“Martian,” by Kyle Keech

Martian,

Wow, look at you! Looking better than ever. I am glad we are now talking.  I am still a bit nervous welcoming you, so excuse me, if I stutter.

I am surprised, honored you chose to come to me first. I may not be the best source of, or representation of all this planet has to offer.  I’d love to show you around and share what I’ve learned about this planet. Better yet, we could work hand-in-hand to learn the ropes better, together.  I struggle myself, assimilating.  No worries, I love putting in the effort.  In all honesty, I kind of prefer standing out and not fitting in.  There’s no blueprint for assimilation. No worries, we have bigger fish to fry. Our Lord and Savior reigns supreme and we ask for His help all the time, but independence is something we strive for daily. We like being the ones others can count on and lean on when they need a smile. It makes our chests warm and cozy. Asking for help is hard for me but I encourage you to learn how to read “nonverbal cues” well so reading in between the lines comes naturally. Social norms change daily anymore so just be you. Don’t force interactions.
