I woke up drafting a heartfelt letter to you again, “Lima Beans.” It was going to be a good one too, sharing that it’s funny how your initials (LB) play a huge role in my life. I realized again however that it’s far past time to start cherry-picking my initiatives and redefining my aim.
Dun-dun-da-duh…. “I’m sorry Ms. Jackson, IM for real…” Talk about a rush! Earlier this week I noticed a friend of mine LIKED an informational post on facebook. The post included some pictures of individuals testing and moving pretty effortlessly in some savvy walkers. Looking closer I realized the walkers seemed to be half-wheelchair/ half-walkers. Noting that the company building the “transformer chairs” wasn’t far from my house, stopping by to test the walkers for myself ended up on my to-do list.
Calls were made and a free afternoon yesterday allowed my grandfather and I to make our way there. The team there already feels like family.
We got our foot in the door! I reminded them I shared that I added a link to their site to mine. This morning I looked up suggested roles an ambassador for a “new tech”walker/ wheelchair company might include. Representing the company to the best of my ability, engaging with the community, demonstrating the equipment, gathering feedback, contributing to their social media presence, attending events, advocacy and networking all feel like attainable feats for me.
