Raising The Bar: Training for the IM ABLE Races and Reps Event

Raising The Bar: Training for the IM ABLE Races and Reps Event

As I gear up for the upcoming IM ABLE Races and Reps event in September, I can’t help but reflect on my training regimen and the intensity that comes with it. It’s a commitment that often feels akin to "Hell Week"—those grueling, high-stakes training sessions where every lift and every rep counts. Each Tuesday, I dive headfirst into focused workouts, honing my skills, and pushing my limits in preparation for what promises to be an inspiring competition.

#### Focus on Plate Lifts and Sit-to-Stands

One of the cornerstones of my training has been plate lifts and sit-to-stands. These exercises are not just about building strength; they are essential movements that translate directly to my performance in the powerlifting arena.

**Plate Lifts**: As I incorporate plate lifts into my routine, I am working on developing explosive strength and stability. This exercise engages multiple muscle groups, targeting the core, legs, and upper body. The progression from lighter weights to heavier plates is not only physically demanding but also mentally challenging—each lift requires focus and determination.

**Sit-to-Stands**: This movement may seem simple, but it plays a crucial role in building functional strength and endurance. By practicing sit-to-stands, I am training my body to perform better in everyday activities while also preparing for the explosive movements needed in powerlifting. The ability to transition from sitting to standing with strength and control is fundamental, especially as I prepare for the various lifts I will face during the event.

#### Powerlifting: More Than Just Strength

Training for a powerlifting event is about more than just lifting heavy weights; it's a holistic approach to building strength, resilience, and mental toughness. Each session is an opportunity to push beyond my perceived limits, and I am committed to raising the bar—literally and figuratively.

The IM ABLE Foundation embodies this spirit of resilience and empowerment, promoting adaptive sports and encouraging individuals of all abilities to pursue their athletic goals. I am honored to be part of an event that highlights these values and showcases the incredible potential within all of us.

#### Looking Ahead: Raising the Bar at the Event

As I continue my training, I am excited about what lies ahead at the IM ABLE Races and Reps event. The atmosphere will be electric, filled with athletes who share a passion for pushing themselves and supporting one another. It will be a celebration of strength, determination, and the power of community.

I look forward to not only challenging myself but also inspiring others along the way. This journey is about more than just personal achievement; it’s about raising awareness for the IM ABLE Foundation and the importance of inclusive sports. Together, we can break barriers and redefine what it means to be an athlete.

#### Join Me on This Journey

As the event approaches, I invite you to follow along on my training journey. Whether you're a seasoned athlete, a beginner, or someone looking to support adaptive sports, there’s a place for you in this conversation. Let's celebrate the power of perseverance and the incredible potential within each of us.

Together, we can raise the bar in our lives and inspire others to do the same. I can’t wait to share the experience and the stories that emerge from the IM ABLE Races and Reps event. Let’s lift each other up and show the world what we’re capable of!
