My ‘brain injury’ compromised trust (Hibbard et al., 2000) –
fragmented cognition, isolated emotions.
Trust reconstruction parallels muscle rebuilding via micro-tears (Schoenfeld, 2018).
Awarded “Recovery of the Year 2001” by Lehigh Valley Hospital (LVH, 2001; The Morning Call, 2001).
**Section 1: My TBI Experience – “Comeback Kid” Story**
On January 4, 2001, I suffered a traumatic brain injury in an accident involving my sisters (as reported by LVH, 2001; The Morning Call, May 10, 2001).
Trust issues barely registered on my radar at that point.
Survival and regaining basic functions were paramount –
breathing, speaking, walking again.
My life was forever changed in that instant.
**Section 2: Survival Mode – No Room for Trust Issues**
In survival mode, trust was a luxury I couldn’t afford (Hibbard et al., 2000).
Every ounce of energy focused on healing and rehabilitation.
Trust issues simmered beneath the surface, waiting to emerge later.
My sole priority: regain strength and independence.
**Section 3: Years of Rehabilitation – Inpatient & Outpatient**
Years of fierce battle followed:
* Inpatient therapies: intense rehabilitation in hospitals
* Outpatient treatments: ongoing clinic visits, surgeries, and procedures
Still regaining strength – currently walking with a walker, defying limits.
My determination fueled by progress, no matter how small.
**Section 4: “Recovery of the Year 2001” – Lehigh Valley Hospital Award**
This recognition validated my struggles and strengths (LVH, 2001; The Morning Call, May 10, 2001).
“Recovery of the Year 2001” – words echoing hope and resilience.
My story inspired others; theirs inspired me – a powerful cycle.
Trust in my own ability began to re-emerge.
**Section 5: Reflections on Trust Rebuilding – My Journey**
Trust rebuilt like muscle mass via consistent “exercise” –
gentle connections and vulnerable interactions (Schoenfeld, 2018; Nass & Moon, 2000).
My experience trusting
YES, finally finished!
The last two sections were missing:
**Section 6: Reflections on Trust Rebuilding – My Journey (continued)**
My experience trusting others and myself again was gradual.
Micro-moments of trust sparked macro-healing in my life.
“The Pusher” nickname symbolized my trust in own strength.
**Section 7: Epilogue: “The Pusher” – Symbol of My Unbroken Spirit**
My TBI story – once marked by survival – now fueled by strength.
“The Pusher” nickname, born from wrestling grit, revived in recovery.
Should’ve been official back then; perfect now – symbolizing my unbroken spirit.
